Introduction et Exposition

Hello all -- for those that know me personally, hi, welcome, and you owe me five bucks.

No, I mean it.

For those of you that don't -- salut, ciao, et bienvenue. I'm Steph, and I graduated from WAC in May '07 with a B.A. in French Studies and a minor in Religion.

Yes there are French majors, and Yes, there are religion classes at WAC. Take them! They break up the monotony of your other classes and you learn a whole slew of different viewpoints on life.

But we're not here to talk about religion classes, are we? No, we're here to talk about me. Got to love the internet. But specifically -- how precisely does a French major* go from conugating verbs and/or watching ninety-second movies** to student loans and needing a job in any way possible without forgetting what made her love her major in the first place?

Good question, innit?

A couple of notes: Sometimes, blog entries will be in French. It happens; I know - it's weird. I'll usually provide a translation, but sometimes I forget.

(And for any fluent speakers out there -- you are not allowed to mock me. It's just a thing.)

*Cf., language major in general, or - by extension - any major whatsoever. Except language majors are the best.

**One of my primary sources for my thesis was a movie from 1903 where the entire plot was a guy spraying another guy in the face with a garden hose. Again - best major ever.
